simon cowell's on the cover of nme. this made me think about how much 'power' he has over music; he can potentially choose the christmas number one and has done for the past four years with x factor. i'm totally behind this internet scheme to get 'rage against the machine - killing in the name of' as christmas number one this year- just to metaphorically 'piss' on simon cowells face. my mum presented me with my weekly doesage of nme and i was quite shocked to see his face. yes, i get nme every week; i'm addicted, i can't go a week without buying it. it's my bible. i have a year and a half worths of magazines under my bed and two years worth of covers. i so regret chucking out the half a years magazines back when i wasn't in love with the new musical express. even though, this 'game' to get rage to number one can be seen in some peoples eyes as a way of 'messing' with joe mcelderrys success, i still think we need a different number one. rock music is never top of the charts in this country and to have it as a christmas number one instead of a reality star who will only get it from being exposed to the media and public, someone who has worked for it and got downloads for having a good song deserves it. i know thats not whats happened with rage against the machine, but maybe next year we should have a normal chart countdown when the reality star has just as much chance as anyone else; yes, this means that i think they should have to write their own songs aswell instead of everything to start them off being handed to them on a plate.

picture: like the old days, kill reality tv. give everyone a chance in music
