The BBC are closing down two radio stations, cutting off half of it's website and to stop importing American shows because of the price.
"The corporation, which is funded by the £3.6 billion annual licence fee, has become too large and must shrink to give its commercial rivals room to operate."
I think this is a shame because in a nut shell, Radio 6 must close to make room for stations such as Radio 1. Don't get me wrong, Radio 1 is good and I listen to it often, but why should smaller stations have to suffer to make room for a station that is already huge? Unsigned bands are the latest musical craze, and because these unsigned acts have their heads so far up radio 1's arse, it is seemed as 'more hip' or 'better', Radio 6 has just as good music from signed talent. Why can't people find their own unsigned acts? It isn't difficult. I can see both sides of the story, fair enough it's because of money issues, but I just think it's a shame. Radio 6 was a nice break, there are so many stations like Heart and Gemini that play the same songs over and over and are just 'people pleaser' stations. Maybe i'm just being narrow minded, thoughts?
