Damon: I want to make more Blur records.

Damon Albarn has said that he "is definitely up for making more of those seven-inches and doing a new blur record at the end of it" he added "i love the no pressure aspect." Although having stressed that he doesn't plan this release anytime soon as he is extremely busy with Gorillaz and working on a new opera with Jamie Hewlett, he then goes on to say "...I don't want anyone thinking that theres an album coming soon. That's not possible. But we do have songs."

Seeing as I am a massive Blur fan, this is really exciting news for me. After the release of the Fools Day single I kind of expected an album, I suppose it's just in Damons nature to do as much music as possible; and why shouldn't he when it's what he's good at. I hope he doesn't leave the new Blur record 'till he's left with nothing else to focus on. It would be nice if he juggled Blur and Gorillaz together after all the Plastic Beach touring has quietened down a little. Although, juggling two massive bands with two different sounds could prove extremely difficult, Damon Albarn is definitely the man to do it. He has the right mind-set.

I suppose each side has pros and cons. Having two bands going at the same time could 'make or break' your sound, increase or decrease your fan base, improve each band or just end up watching them fall apart. I suppose it's not worth the risk, no matter how enthusiastic Damon might be.

Although I love Blur so much, I don't really want them to do a full blown reunion like Take That did (even though that has panned out amazingly for them). It will either be a success or a failure like The Spice Girls reunion, it was hyped up so much and then it happened and just didn't work. It would be great if they just did an album here and there and toured a little. That way, Gorillaz can still work, Blur fans get what they want and the Blur boys can have the 'no pressure aspect', as Damon said, of trying to make Blur 100% functional again.
