the horrors used to be my favourite band and i was another one of those 'die hard horrors fans' who was uncontrollably in love with every single one of them. then i found blur.
i discovered them whilst watching 'the mighty boosh' and thought i would check them out and instantly fell in love. they were the first band i properly liked, well, i was completely and utterly obsessed like how a lot of people are with twilight.
i'm quite glad im not anymore because it's pathetic. being uncontrollably in love with something like that is abnormal and weird.
common things people are obsessed with include twilight/robert patinson, the jonas brothers, miley cyrus, zac efron, so basically the things i completely despise.
i don't know, i guess being obsessed or completely in love with something or someone has advantages. it gives you something to focus on or an interest, but when people take it to far it's ridiculous.
at first, i loved the way the horrors sounded, distorted guitars and shrieking vocals, then they brought out their new album that i was so excited for but i was disappointed when it was shoe gaze and physcadelic. i wasn't impressed to begin with. i had to listen to it over and over to like it. i wanted the old horrors back.
the horrors aren't my favourite band anymore and i've gone off them quite a lot in the past ten months or so, but i still like them. the 'primary colours' album isnt anywhere near as bad as what i thought it was. it's great. i suppose my music taste has just matured a lot since i've been listening to the classics.
it's true what people say. the oldies can change you're music taste completely and it has. for the better though. old music is so much better than new music. it's not computer enhanced or distorted, it's pure and they can sing live. there was no faking it back in the seventies.

picture: the horrors (listen to scarlet fields, it's my favourite one by them.)
